The ICF post if a good place to take a look. I posted a link to some photos of our ICF house there. We have around 5,000 sq ft and our high monthly electric bill to date was around $400, and that ain't bad for a super hot Texas summer.

My foundation was built with the Arxx blocks. Just glue those guys down to the footing and start stacking them like Legos.
We're quite happy with the results. The below grade walls are nice and warm.
