Well... I happen to own the Hitachi... but I really like my Ryobi portable radial arm saw far more... mounted on a stand with wheels... like a small "shop on wheels"
Re: What 12\" Sliding Compound Miter Saw?
I like the Ryobi tools that I own.
Have you tried or know anyone who has tried their $100 plunge router? It looks like a good deal for that price.

Back in the 80’s, I was doing a roof job and we smoked a few B&D & Skil circular saws… so in the middle of the job, I stopped at the local hardware store and bought 3 Ryobi’s the hardware owner claimed… “we couldn’t smokeâ€Â… & he was absolutely RIGHT … everyone is still working to this day…
Then I just continued buying the rest of the Ryobi line… I think most everything has “Made in Japan†on it… I just recently got some upgraded 18vdc cordless Ryobi’s last Christmas time… and they are mostly “Made in Chinaâ€Â…
I just checked my Hitachi slider and it’s the 8†version not 10â€Â… they are very expensive for what they are cracked up to be… … I don’t remember exactly, but I’m pretty sure I paid less than $200. for my Ryobi portable radial arm saw… that will work circles around the compound sliders…
I only have one plunge router, Ryobi RE-600… @ 3hp and soft start, I finally mounted it on a table and mostly use it as a HD shaper and for lots of repetition router work… the rest of the routers are Craftsman and they just keep humming along…

I think that is the name of my portable tool table with wheels/rollers...
I'll try to get a picture...

John:
My saw is about 8 years old and has Delta Sidekick on the saw. The table folds down and has extension arms on each side. Folded it makes a very compact package yet set up it's sturdy enough to suit me.
