Well, hurd from the site forman. To muddy to get anything onto the lot. They are going to scrape up the topsoil, and drop down some rock. More delays.....

Paul,
Sorry to hear about the delays. I am paying attention to your travails and hoping to avoid some of the problems you are experiencing when it comes my turn to build.
I am as dumb as a doorknob when it comes to home building and contractors but it does seem that the general contractor would have made sure he had good access to the property before he started building. Every builder that I have talked to has alluded to the fact that a driveway of some form or fashion would be required before the dirtwork would begin. Maybe your builder thought it was going to be a dry autumn...
Well, swung by yesterday to check the place out. They dug the driveway, but no gravel yet. And no work on the footers yet. Well, at least something went on. And I figure he spent a good day on the drive, and it is only wed, so maby I'm ok. Hope they get the footers done my the weekend. Oh, and now its snowing Oh well. What can you do. BTW, I will post some drive pictures tonight.
OK, heres the picture....
They say the footers were done today, but I did not have a chance to swing by. Hope they did.
Looks like a nice curve in the drive. When I was taking bids on our driveway most contractors wanted to run it straight. It is harder to do the sweeps but I like it better.
One thing, try and have that topsoil moved away from the driveway before the stone goes down. It should be piled out of the way before it freezes.
When we first looked at the place we knew how we wanted the drive. You cant see them bolth, but it sweeps through two trees, about half way to the house.[you can see one to the left] As for the plow guy? Thats me. I know I will curse it, but I like it. They are planing to move the top soil, but they did not have the time yet. Some will be used to fill a big hole out by the road.
Have it the way you want it and you will be happy even if you have to plow it.
Don't waste any of that top soil. I was careless and used too much to fill holes and ended up having to move some from the back of the property to finish grading.
Stopped by the lot last night to have a look. The footers are all done. They had to rip some of the one they did last week, that got damaged by the rain. Looks good. Hope they get to pour the walls, or at least set up the fourms today. How long do they have to let the footors dry for before they can pour the walls? Day, or two, or a week or so?
Paul,
You've been mighty quiet this week. How is your house coming along? Is it still raining up your way?
Well, it stopped raining, but I have not been up to look at the house. Last I know the footers are done, but I don't know if they poured the walls yet. Will be heading up tomarrow, to check it out. I have my fingers crossed.
