Seeing as its getting to be winter.... how about updating the fall PA landscape picture??

Hey Pete -- long time no see! How are things going over there!?!?
PS: I agree about the pic. I have several nice shots of ice and snow that seem more appropriate.
Pete
But, Muhammad now lives in Arizona, so maybe he doesn't "feel" the cold like you guys!
Muhammad is in Arizona? I seem to recall discussing a roof problem he had over on the Tractor site. Everybody was trying to give solutions to the problem. I think I like Muhammad's best. Just move to Arizona!
Steve
Yes that was quite a discussion, and very helpful. Turned out to be connected to shrinkage of the sheaves or something like that. Essentialy a "cosmetic" problem---or at least that is what he was able to convince the buyer of his house.
Now he is in sunny AZ. Mighty nice about this time of year.

Bit chilly today, though, after those rains came through. Must've been in the mid-60's today, but the sun feels good.

Do you have to rub it in? 0 this moring + whatever the wind chill adds (subtracts?). Made for a chilly dog walk this morning.

It sure seems to be a real cold one back East this time. In my 32 years living in MD, I don't recall more than a few times it ever got as cold as it is there now.
I heard on the radio that here in the Baltimore Area last year -- we only had 1 day that the temperature never rose above freezing. This year we had 7 days in a row until yesterday, but now we are to have a few more days in a row again.
It's been in the mid 50's here, and that's at 5800 ft. elev. Been running water and power lines in tee shirts.
Gee, 60 degrees... we'd have to break out the suntan oil and shorts.
Your dog actually walks with you at 0? Starts getting that cold and mine wants to be carried. Or at least let back inside right away.

My dog (7 y/o lab) isn't any happier about it than I am, but the exercise general (aka wifey) doesn't let us wuss out!
Her dog, The pup (10 month lab) doesn't seem to be affected at all.
We went winter camping two years ago in the rangley lakes region in Maine, managed to pick the coldest day of the winter, It was -10 F at 8am (when we got to the car in the morning). That's the first time I've ever seen a dog shiver! I had to give up some of my sleeping pad so that he wasn't on the ground (we packed a fleece blanket for him, but he knew the thermarest was the place to be). If he would have fit (he's 90#, I'm 210#), I'd have stuffed him in the mummy bag with me. Since then I picked up a pad for the dog on sale. My mom sewed a fleece & nylon cover for it. Fellow hikers get a laugh out of the "spoiled pooch". Now with two dogs, I'm regretting the purchase of the "two man" tent. Gets a little too cozy on a warm night.
Ours will beg and beg to go out to the chicken coop with my wife. Beats her back to the house every time
It was 78, sunny and windy here yesterday. My face was either sunburned or windburned last night. Kinda got my goat, making me think about the miserable, hot summer days coming up in a few, short months. I hate summer! I love winter! Hey Pete, things are good. Finally finished the horse arena and now we are waiting to get the footing in so we can start using it. But the guy is reluctant to plow the 1/2 mile drive to his gravel pit and break through the frozen ground.. imagine that!
Most of you have me beat on the temperatures (only down to 5 degrees or so), but I've been getting up at 4 every morning to clean the stalls and feed the horses and I'm glad to be in the 25 degree barn. We need more horses to put out more heat! Seeing ice in their buckets makes me think about getting the water heaters..
I got Dunkin Donuts coffee for xmas, but it wasn't as good as your Green Mountain!
My fiancee has been looking at Australian Shephard rescue web sights again.. DOH! Looks like we are going to back to four dogs again soon.. We've got the barn cats in the house the last three nights and the dogs haven't stopped whining! I don't believe they just want to make friends..
Hope it gets warm soon.. I have to wash my tractor.
Stay warm!
Submissions welcome.
How's this?
Pete
How about this?
Or this?
Or, finally, this?
Great shots Rich, but I think your lens got a little foggy. It's tricky at this time of year (freakin cold). I find that keeping it in it's case until it acclimates to the outside temperature helps.
Paul
Here's a chilly one
Pete
Quit it! I got frostbite on my toes just looking, you snow belt peoples are nuts!!
Rich,
Looks pretty much like here. Do much biking this time of year?
Steve
Pete,
I think your signature pic says it best.
Gary -- Molson thanks you! His big winter love is chasing the snow as I rake it off the roof or shovel it off the porch. He's not the brightest bulb, but he's an excellent gun dog and a loyal companion. I'm crazy about him.
Pete
Agree. I just love Pete's signature pic. Even though it's clearly cold, that dog warms my heart every time I see the pic.

Just updated the home page picture...
Home page link.
M, I just get the dreaded little red "X" in the upper left of the picture...
Other than that, it's a great picture of a polar bear in a blizzard
Maybe we didn't give him enough time, Rob, but I get the same thing you do.
Hey, somebody stole your picture!
Steve
Oops... works now.
Looks great !!!!!
Those are nice pictures Rich. Too bad you have the date displayed to kind of cheapen the look.
Most digital cameras contain EXIF information which has the date in embedded in the file. That way you can always retrieve the date if you needed without having to have it on the picture.

I like having the date displayed that way on my pictures; something I always did with my Nikon 35 mm camera (that feature could be turned off, but I never did). However, I've not figured out a way to display the date that way on my pictures with the Olympus digital camera. Unless I change the name, I can always tell the date from the file name, but if I could get it to display in the picture, I'd sure do it.
You can also see the date from the EXIF tags that are included with the picture file. Here's a sample of all the EXIF data.
