Every digital camera, scanner, I ever bought came with some sort of editing software. PhotoSuite, Photo Express, Photo Shop. You need to edit the picture with the editing software to make it smaller. This usualy on the tool bar somewhere and is most often listed a RESIZE. To post on this baord it must be made smaller than 150kb.
You can also go looking for Irfanview on Google. It's freeware and will allow you to resize your photos and other editing too.
That ones a little small. What did I do wrong?

A combination of RESIZE (800x600 or 640x480) and COMPRESSION should do the trick.
Now it says Post allready exist. Any suggestions?
Start from scratch. Pretend you didn't post it yet. Size it to about 600 by 400, don't worry about compression.
Do not use your browser's "back" function to get back to the page you used to make the post attempt. DO click on "Post" again as if for the first time.
It may be simpler if you just post the picture and then click on "EDIT" to add text.
This tractoring picture from earlier today is 136 kilobytes, big enough.
Happy posting,

Oh, yeah... Goat... go to http://www.irfanview.com and download the free graphic program, Irfanview. It is a terrific graphic view-edit application AND IT IS FREE. It doesn't spy on you. It doesn't nag all the time about buying the full featured version. I have and know how to use the full up version of Adobe PhotoShop and a bunch of other tools but have irfanview set as my default viewer and is what I use for quick and dirty slideshows etc. It is tough to have too much good to say about it.

Nariative for these is posted onthe Oklahoma farmhouse thread.

Thanks for the help. I can now add pictures to my post.
Nice cow
An OK cow but just a tad low on the body condition scale.
Her reproductive health and condition of the next calf would likely be better if she was fleshed up a bit.

Rose, I'm not familiar with "photobucket." There are some very knowledgeable picture posters here, such folk as the Gator Dude (AKA Gatorboy.)
I "preprocess" pix to meet the file size limit by using Irfanview. Irfanview is a very good easy to use graphic application that is very intuitive and will do everything needed to size a picture for posting here.
Irfanview is FREE! It is one of the best written pieces of FREEWARE I have ever encountered. This from a Googlel on Irfanview...
Download IrfanView
Thank you very much for downloading and using IrfanView. Since year 2003, IrfanView has over 1 Million downloads EVERY month! (counting 3-4 major mirrors) ...

Irfanview
There are lots of "features" in Irfanview but you don't have to learn the whole thing to resize pix, just a couple commands in the menus. You can drag and drop a picture file on the irfanview desktop icon to open a picture. Then explore the pull down menus and yo will find a choice that lets you resize the picture. Do that and then save it under a different file name and your ready to post the picture here.
There are lots of suitable applications to do this but Irfanview is free and works well.

Pat (and Rose), I agree that Irfanview is a great and easy piece of Freeware. I have however been using Pixresizer (also very FREE), and it works GREAT. I make the setting as "Custom", set at 640 X 450 and it saves a copy of the photo you started with but with an automatically renamed file name, in the same location. It's Here
