In a few years I want to be able to get some chickens. I love the idea of using some kind of existing structure to make a chicken coop from. It would be neat if it could look fun and and still be functional.
A friend of mine built a coop all with wood and metal sheeting and other stuff he found at the dump. With a little paint, it looks almost artistic.
Does anyone have any fun ideas for things you could use as a basis for a coop?
Used wooden pallets from lowes/home depot.
An old buss or step van. We had one of tin growing up. My wife and I ordered a kit from one of the "Country" type magazines. Included was a list of materials needed. We put it together seven years ago, the chickens love it.... Have fun and stay safe..
Hey, these are some good ideas! I think you can get used pallets fairly cheap. I am going to look into that!
Or maybe something good will show up at the dump. I guess something might hit me when I see it. I'll just have to keep my eyes open.
We used an old kitchen corner cabinet to make a big, shared nesting box.
Please post pictures of the coop made of pallets. I have too many pallets and would like to use them for something. Thanks
