cattle breed
I am new to this forum so please bare with me. I have purchased a 9 month old heifer and the breed is Red Pol and Hereford with some short horn ancestory. The gentleman I purchased her from also told me her grandfather was Registered Jernigan. I have no idea what that is and can find nothing on the net about "Jernigan". Can anyone help me out on this???

I do not think Jernigan is a breed it is a sale barn.

Thanks jimbrown,
I saw that ranch site when I was researching but didn't really connect it. Maybe he was referring to a registered bull from this ranch. Guess I will just call her a Red Pol/Hereford. I am thinking about trading her off for a young steer due to the fact that I just took this years steer in for processing and it will be 14 - 16 months before we need another. This heifer is already about 600 lbs. I was told this calves mother is a super producer of calves as well as milk. I was trying to get as much info as possible on the breed. Thanks again

My thought is if you are gonna eat it what difference does it make? A nice range cow taste just as good or beter.
