Are red peppers green first?

I am certain I planted red peppers in my garden but I have not seen any yet. I just keep getting green peppers. I forgot to mark the plants so I don't remember which plants where which, but do red peppers start out green or do they come out red right away?

Thanks for that. I was worried I got the wrong plants somehow. I hadn't planted them before and I was unaware that they started green. I will have to be patient then with the plant I think is the red ones and let them ripen!

Many varieties of peppers will turn red as they mature. I don't know of any that start out red.

Awesome! I have been letting the peppers mature but I still do not have any red ones. I am hoping for some before it gets too cold.

Patient pays. It will turn red as it matures and ripen. Even those green peppers turn red when they mature and ripen. Don't be in a hurry.
