Hand-cut Dovetails
Does anyone hand-cut their dovetails????
I have the tools..... DT saw, chisels, marking guage, DT markers, etc.
I'm ready to start. Pins first? Tails first? Pitfalls to avoid???
Plenty of practice cherry, walnut, maple and poplar on hand!!!
Thanks,

Re: Hand-cut Dovetails
Did once, just for fun. My saw wasn't precise enough for my liking. Ever watch The Woodwrights Shop on PBS? Roy Underhill does it all the time and makes it look relatively easy.
Oh yeah, I remember I did cut some by hand once on a cradle I made. Where the rails joined the ends. Pretty simple construction and easy enough to do. I think I finally broke down and got a Japanese pull saw. Worked much better.
My mind is fuzzy on all of this as most of my woodworking stuff is still in boxes from the move. hoping to start hanging drywall in my basement shop in the next week or two
