    Re: Bacteria

Since you have said that you have never done a Coliform bacteria test yourself, I guess you don't know that you must open the petri dish, or the presence/absence sample container to properly dispose...

    Re: Bacteria

As you have done on many forums, you are misrepresenting what you were told. Actually I told you to smell the odor to be able to compare the odor to other odors found in ground water and possibly in...
  4. Re: Ozone for water purification - any experience?

I've not seen anything saying that ozone deactivates cysts or crypo but it may although chlorine does not.

Class B UV does not but it does deactivate all bacteria found in supposedly potable water...

Re: I still have yellowish well water!?!

Yellow is either ferric iron or tannin. Since your yellow precipitates to the bottom, it is ferric iron, tannins will not settle out of solution.

So how much ferrous iron and hardness do you have?...

    Re: Well Shocking Multiple Times

I have extensive experience in shocking wells to remediate Coliform bacteria contamination and for other types of bacteria caused problems.

It is rare to get rid of a bacteria problem by shocking...

    Re: Well and softener problems

You don't want a rope, they usually cause much more grief than not and when you go to use them, they tend to break easily. They attach off center and cock the pump when pulled. When they fall down...

    Re: Well and softener problems

The pump may not be sized to be able to be set deeper in the well.

There are 2-3 different manufacturers of tank replacement type in the well tank eliminators. Here's one but it won't fit a 6"...

There are ways to do away with the pump house and tank. Go to
http://www.terrylove.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=4 and search for info on that, or post asking how to do it.

    Re: Well and softener problems

The slippery feeling of the water meant that the softener was working; there was less than 1 gpg of hardness in the water. Finding a softener there means the water is hard. Feeding a softener salt is...

Re: Water pump power requirement /sizing

No problem, you should know much more about it than I do.

Your 800-1000 gallons over 7.5 hours comes in at 1.7 to 2.2 gpm. The 300-500 is .666 to 1.1 gpm.

Poohbear you are forgetting total dynamic head, that includes the pressure loses in the plumbing with the water moving. The pressure losses vary with the pressure so we use the average pressure. I.E....

Re: Water pump power requirement /sizing

You are forgetting the storage capacity of the well. I.E. a 6" well has 1.47 gal/foot of water in it. If the pump is sized to pump from the depth it is set at in the well, you can plan on using all...

    Re: whole house water filter

ROs reduce TDS. Most RO membranes can handle up to 2000 ppm TDS. So they do not require low TDS water.
