    I think there is more chance that the rod will bend and be damaged if the wedge is attached to the rod. I prefer the wedge to be fixed and push the log.

    I have a metal tub and its as good as the day I bought it 30 years ago. I replaced the wheel about 10 years ago and I repainted the tub 1 time and I expect it will out live me.

    The 1.5 amps = 180 volt amps which is better than 20 volt amps. It just means it will supply more current if the load needs it. Sounds like that transformer is just what you need.

    They could have been used to separate wires used as feeders to an antenna. The feed line was called a ladder line was very common in the 50's used by amateur radio operators.
