I disagree that they are a hot commodity. Maybe the wood is, but, as others have said, the cost is in dismantling it. Usually the barns themsleves go for very little b/c of the labor involved. I saw...

Glad to hear it. Now he knows you are a nice helpful concerned neighbor and things should be better between you. Hell, maybe he'll even share some of his beer with you!
Good suggestion. I am next to a worn-out commercial-type building that appears to be vacant. They do however use it for storage. I have even called them numerous times to see if they wanted to sell...
Does anyone use washable cloth diapers? Which do you use and where did you get them? Thanks.

I like the shot of the old building too. I'm glad it will be given the attention it deserves. Too many barns and old buildings are constantly torn down and scrapped to make way for newer ugly houses,...
Are you talking new? You can't get the same engine in 1/2 vs 3/4 ton GM trucks, so kinda apples versus oranges, UNLESS you are considering the 1500HD. Then the Vortec 6000 (6.0 liter) is available....
Yup. My house too. More this year than others. I was worried because I just put the gutters on the house myself (trying to save a few $$$) and thought that perhaps I didn't put enough slope on them....
If you decide to put it on the pole, remember to get UV wire. A lot of your typical wiring cannot be exposed to sunlight for long periods of time as the coating will break down.

Get a copy of the warranty details. We had one through GE Capitol and realized later that there was no deductible if taken to the original dealer but $50 if taken to another...
I can't speak to the 2WD, but my '96 4WD GMC 1500 with manual tranny never got better than around 17mpg. That was with the 5.7 liter (350ci). Now my '01 4WD with auto and 5.3 liter gets even worse...
Ever see those annoying X10 camera pop up ads on the internet? I did a little research on them and they really don't seem half-bad. Wireless, relatively inexpensive and usually have pretty good...
I'm late to this thread too, but for comparison sake, here are the details on my vinyl job done last summer: white Alcoa Liberty Elite; dark green Alcoa aluminum soffit, fascia and a few window...
That's a great concept. Maybe I should drive out there next year to get our tree... /forums/images/icons/grin.gif
Makes sense. I was thinking nutrients for some reason. Thanks!
Interesting. How do the fish benefit from the trees?
Hmm, I think it was $55 for a Colorado Spruce, but we had a 10% coupon on top of that. The smaller one was like $14. Not a bad deal when you consider what they want for a nice cut tree.
We're...
Wow, that's some living area! I thought my 9' ceilings were high.
Very impressive though. The fence posts will be a nice thing to look back upon down the road.

Speaking of septic tank health, what are your opinions on washing latex paint into the tank? Not dumping a whole gallon or leftover paint right in, but washing brushes, rollers, pans, etc?
I never...
Just curious. For those of you celebrating, what did you do for a tree this holiday? Artificial, live cut tree, or live balled tree?
I know there are tree farms for holiday trees, but we like the...
We do the Arbor Day Society thing every year. Usually plant them in a starter type bed to get them going and then move them to their permanent home once we are sure they are in good shape.
Keep in...
I just realized that I have no shots of our doors on that site. If anyone's really interested in seeing them, let me know and I'll bring some in from home. I may even have close-ups of the windows...
We just replaced most of the windows in our 1877 farm house and added 2 french doors. Decided to go with Semco . They offer a great extruded aluminum/wood window with many features offered by the...
I don't know what GM says, but if you do the conversion:
5.3 liters x (1 gallon/3.785 liters) x (231 cubic inches/1 gallon) = 323.5 cubic inches
So we're both wrong!

That sounds about right. I had a '92 with a 4.3 and it was not a Vortec. My '96 had the 5.7 (350) and it was a Vortec. My current '01 is the 5.3 (325?) and it is the Vortec also. All (I think) gas...
Consider putting one of those huge tarps over the entire roof for the time being too. It's bad now, but could get worse if left to the weather...
