Re: Quarter Horses

The difference with the old way that Cowboydoc describes, is that with tube worming, there's a tube at the end of the syringe which is inserted through the nose and into the stomach. Not an easy thing to do. But without the tube that leads to the stomach, all you're doing is squirting the wormer into the nose, which would cause all the problems Cowboydoc mentioned, as well as not being effective.

I stick the syringe between the front and back teeth and give it a good push to get it to the back of the tongue, so they can't spit it out. My biggest problem is that they know what is coming. I can trick the first horse by hiding the syringe. But when the second horse sees what's gonna happen, he hi-tails it for the other end of the pasture.

Rozette, that's what I try to do, but my horses don't cooperate. As soon as they see the syringe, they shake their heads all over. I'm lucky to get in in their mouths at all!!
