The white tails around here are so used to people that they routinely nibble the apple tree within spitting distance of my porch. My four dogs, all golden retrievers, show no interest in the hooved rodents. But today I figured out that if I throw a tennis ball at the deer, all four dogs bark happily and chase it! The deer, thinking they are being attacked by an entire pack, vanish!
I provide a salt lick for the deer and count on the "inventory" reduction.
I also like to watch the deer eat my neighbor's roses.
My Lab us afraid of them. Probably thinks they are big kitties.
