Check Those Stirrup Leathers

Well, last night I was riding my horse at a good lope and she spooked. I was getting her under control when my left stirrup gave out and I lost all balance, landing on my head, giving me a mild concussion and a slight case of short term amneisa.

I inspected my saddle today (which I do not remember taking off, I do not even remeber going to the hospital) and found the leathers under the stirrup buckles was badly cracked on both sides. This is an area I have negleted as I never move those buckles.

Word of advise, if you have an older saddle, be sure to move the buckles and check the condition on the leather underneath!
