solar oven

Has anyone every cook in a solar oven? How were the results? They are very expensive to buy- approx $250. Anyone have tried and true plans to make one?

Re: solar oven

I dunno but at the moment we are experiencing 38 degree C temps (100 F for you guys) and it is hot enough to fry an egg on the bonnet of my car.

Does that count??

Cheers

Re: solar oven

I made a solar oven for melting down old bee frames to get
the wax. I never used it for cooking but the temps in there
get fairly hot. I made the thing for less than $50.
all you need is a peice of glass (its cheaper than plexi) and
a very tight fitting walls (i used plywood) I melt the wax in a
big baking pan big enough to cook a turkey. I might just
try baking something in there to see how well it works.
