    DRY WELL

I have a 24x28 pole barn. I would like to put what the old guys called a dry well. I was thinking of a couple 50 Gal barrels in the ground. Questions. Are these large enough to handle the rain water from the pole barn.? How deep should they be? Should they be filled with rocks? How large of holes should be in the barrels? The ground is all sand.

    Any help would be aprecated.

yes the barrels should be filled with rocks....or anything that will give you some good voids for the water to go....i have three drums for my barn. they are about 8foot down but i had to have them below a slope.

If your all sand, why would you want the drywells? Drainage should be excellent.

My sand is what we call blow sand. Very Very light. The rain water will wash the grass away and make gullies. The pole barn is in the yard that I mow.
