Re: Freezers - Upright or Chest?

For you people who have had freezers before, here's one for you. I am looking for a freezer for the new house, and it will be kept in the garage. Now, I have learned from having refrigerators in the garage, that they do not work well when it gets real cold. Is this a problem with freezers also? Is one type better then another? I will have heat in the garage, but rather not have to run it all the time.

You can be assured that if you have a freezer in an unheated garage that at -30 you will not have any problems keeping things frozen.

Course if you have a fridge out there too the beer will also be frozen.

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not frozen beer!

My problem with the fridge was that it kept kicking the defrost cycle. So it ended up heating the inside of the fridge. Hope that does not happen to the freezer.
