Done lambing now, and had a second set of triplets! Oddly enough from the other silver in my flock. She lost one of them tho, which in my experience is a more typical situation.
I have an older ewe that had several sets of triplets but would always push away the smallest and not feed it. We call her momma 2 since she always produced at least 2 lambs.
Thank you.
That is my wifes baby.
He was abandened by his mother and the wife bottle fed him (we had some colostrum (sp?) from another ewe who lost her lamb.) He will never make the trip to the butcher shop, he's a pet, fortunatly a fertile father.
Sorry for not responding sooner, I've been on business travel for the past month.
He is a mixed breed, not sure exactly, part Barbados. When I bought my sheep I knew darn little about sheep other than they are right tasty. Someone advertised Barbados sheep for sale and I didn't want wool producers, I figured they would be too much work for a small return in a small herd.
But it appears that Barbados have black bellies and some of mine do but most of mine have white bellies. So I'm not sure of their true breed. But they are mighty tasty morsels.
Lamb stew cooking right now for dinner. Umm Umm.
Still don't know alot about sheep, but a little more than when I started.
