There's a bean called "horticulture" that's real popular around here and I always plant a row or two. Old-timers call them "shelly beans" I guess because they're easy to shell. Pretty good eating with a skillet of cornbread. For butterbeans, I always plant the "giant" hybrids of the climbing variety. Beans about the size of a teaspoon and easy to pick and shell. Kentucky Wonder pole beans can't be beat for snapping beans. Planted all my beans just before the rain last Saturday and they were cracking ground yesterday. My pea patch will be about 1/3 pinkeyes and 2/3 purple hulls and I'll plant them in 2 or 3 weeks. Planting SweetG-59 corn tomorrow if my soil will dry a little bit!
