    building a hay wagon

I have been thinking of building an old fashoned hay wagon.

How do most people deal with the steering. Do they use a gutted front axel from a truck. Or do most people get a rear axel and let the whole thing pivit?

Are their any pictures out on the net of these details?

I think most people buy running gear that was intended to be used for hay wagons. You can buy old ones generally for about $200. That's probably the easiest way to do it.

Like Rich said, a wagon running gear is the way to go, but if you really want to do it yourself, use a front axle. I've never seen a hay wagon with a center pivot at the front and would expect that if you did it, it would be very unstable. Just think of a kid's little red wagon and how easy they are to flip over.
