    what can i do about wire grass???help!!!

    we have recently purchased a old 6 acre old farm and want to eliminate a semi-wet[in winter] area with wire grass in it so we could eventualy plant something in that area ,its about 2 acres of mixed pasture with wire grass.we will be needing to get some permits in the next couple years and dont want this area deamed "wet land".what can we do.we have a 40hp 4wd tractor that we can use.should we rototill or disc it???what about spraying???

    Wire grass? I've never heard of such a thing. Can you explain what this is in more detail?

    i dont know another name.its more of a marsh land grass that grows in clumps and spreads into good pasture land.cows wont eat it.it round like little tubes and i think its pretty common in washington state.??

    is it hollow and jointed? It sounds like equisetum, also known as scowering rush or horsetail. If this is the plant it has a very high silica content and it was used to scower pots by the pioneers, therefore the name.

    Does this look like the plant?

    its hollow and has no joints,looks like chives but stiffer.
