I haven't seen it either - fire ants aren't too much of an issue here. But wow, it is pretty disturbing to imagine that they're claiming a product that kills things is safe enough to let dogs and kids play around it. No way - I do believe there's a time and place for using poisons, but I don't think that dogs and kids should be around them (or me, for that matter - I use plenty of protective gear when I spray poisons around, and keep the animals and everyone else away).
For fire ants I use Orthene. I think the smell kills them! I am pretty sure its not too toxic. My friend's 2yr old ingested some, and poison control said it was mostly boric acid with a food that ants like to eat. I personally don't let my kids eat the stuff!
