Wood stove conversion???

I have an Osburn 2400 pedestal stove.Does anyone know if I convert it to a fireplace insert by removing the pedestal?

If it will fit in the firplace cavity and the air for the fire is not drawn from the fireplace cavity i say you probably can. I had a Key stoker coal insert. You could get the same stove as a free standing unit and the only diff was the pedestal. another thing is if it has a blower for blowing heat out. you wouldnt want that drawing air from the fireplace cavity either.

The stove will most likely have to meet all the same clearance specs as if it was free standing. There are specific designs for fireplace inserts.

You can install it but codes and insurance policies may not allow it.
