tell me the names of some smaller newspapers in your area? I have used the postcards some of you sent and gleaned town names from them in order to submit columns in those areas, but I've run out of options. Thanks in advance.

Cindy, let me give you 2 that serve this portion of North Carolina. Both are very small but great local papers. I'll try to post the urls so you can link to them.
The Sanford Herald
The Apex Herald
I subscribe to the Apex Herald. It is a weekly paper that serves the local community.
The Sanford Herald is the paper for the town I grew up in. It is a daily paper. I usually read it online.
I have read columns like you write in both of these papers.
Best of luck with getting your columns published. I have really enjoyed reading them here and in TractorByNet.
Bob
Thanks Bob! I submitted to both of them!
Cindi, our local paper is The Post Star.

Please tell me if you submit something so I'll be sure to pick it up everyday. Our local delivery person was so bad, we no longer get it delivered anymore, and I sometimes forget to pick it up in town.
I can't wait to see something in our local paper from you!!!
Rich
"What a long strange trip it's been."
We get the Edwardsburg Argus weekly, it's part of the Leader Publications which puts out a number of small, local papers
Rob
Rich, I sure will, and Rob I submitted to yours too, thanks!
Cindi,
I usually use this website to get primary source international news, but their US database seems to be quite impressive. Obviously you'd have to do a little research to see which papers service rural communities, but that seems easy enough to do.

Just click on a state. I don't think you'll be "run[ning] out of options" anytime soon.
Bob, aka mundamanu
Thanks mundamanu, I bookmarked it!
