Pipe Question??

Is there enough of a difference in Sch 30 and 40 pipe that I wouldn't want to use the Sch 30. I found some that is .26 cents cheaper than Sch 40 and don't know if I should or not. I know I couldn't look at the two side by side and tell the difference but don't know about the difference in wear. Any help is appreciated.

    Re: Pipe Question??

The schedule 40 pipe should have a greater pressure rating and a thicker wall. If the pipes in question are under 6 inches the OD should be the same.

It would be for a fence, all of it longer than 6 inches. Think it would be ok? Thanks again

    Re: Pipe Question??

Either should be fine for fence, the sch 30 will just rust through a little sooner. Egon was talking about the outside diameter (OD) not length. 6" and under, the OD will be the same for different schedules but the ID (inside diameter) changes.

Keep it painted and it won't matter what size you use for fence.
