Garlic & horses?

I've read large amounts of garlic can cause anemia in horses, what about a garlic block (like a salt block)? Do you think that would be okay?I haven't purchased one yet, don't know if they'll even like it! Thanks a bunch!

What is the purpose of the feeding the horses garlic? Realize my recent horse owning experience is only two years old, my readings on horse nutrition suggest some feed, forage and free choice salt and mineral blocks are generally all that needs to be provided.

Most people feed garlic as a mosquito deterrent.
