This picture was made by Mary Jane Volkmann of some Fire Ants in a big ball floating in Gainesville, Fl. after Francis came to visit. It was published in the Gainesville Sun this morning.

Leo, where we lived near Navarro Mills Lake, nearly every Spring we had a little flooding over the dirt road below our place, and I've seen the fire ants like that several times.
And when I have been wading in flood waters, I've had one of these little floating "islands" bump into me. They think (if you can use that term) you are a tree so they all climb on, and start BITING. Not fun. [img]/forums/images/icons/mad.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/icons/mad.gif[/img]
