We are thinking of actually trying to grow clover or a mixture of clover and lawn instead of traditional fescue lawn. We have read that it uses less water than fescue and being on a well this is important to us. Also, we are not going to be using the lawn area as a traditional lawn it is just to get a buffer of green around the house. Anyone have any experience with clover other than trying to eradicate from their existing lawn?
With no information in your profile and since you don't say what part of the country you're in or what the climate is like, I'm not sure anyone can help you much. Since I'm in Texas where it gets hot and dry in the summer, clover doesn't work very well. When I was in the country, I didn't worry about a "traditional" lawn either and we usually had plenty of clover early in the Spring, but it would die out pretty quickly in the hot, dry summer.
