What do yall do to protect your pets in the yard from predators? I was thinking chain link fence with about 3' underground on the outside 6' high with angled wire at the top.

What kind of pets, and what kind of predators....
That fence you described won't do much to keep hawks out of your poultry
GareyD

Yikes that is going to look a lot like the Hunstville prison farm.
phxraptor,
How big of an area do you want to fence in? Using chain link can get pretty expensive.
I don't have coyotes to deal with so my fence was primarily to keep the dogs in.
Instead of digging down to keep them from crawling out (or in your case in), I ran electric fence about 1' up and 1' away from the fencing. This also stopped them from jumping on the fence.
I used welded wire fence. It's less obtrusive than chain link and seemed to work just as well. The area I was doing was about an acre so I ran split rail then attached the welded wire to it. It pretty much disappeared from view once you got back aways.
I'm assuming you'll need to go higher so not sure if this setup would work for you.
bczoom, that sounds like a possible idea.

A Great Pyreneese would work well.

Rather than going deep, consider laying 2 or 3 feet of fencing (chicken wire) flat on the ground around the outside of the fence. When buried, predators can't dig through and so far we haven't had one bright enough to figure out where the chicken wire stops.
Steve
Can them yotes climb fences? Steve I meant 3 feet out from the fence not deep.
