Let's hope Hank doesn't get run over by a street car before he tells us what that building is.

Sorry, my Internet was down since shortly after I posted it until this morning. DocHeb got it right away....it's a racquetball court....20' x 40' x 20' high. But everything mentioned was among the guesses we made before we finally found out. Other guesses I heard from neighbors were a place for the kids' band practice, a place for growing marijuana, and an indoor pool.
The owner used SIPS construction on the house and racqetball court. They went up in no time at all.
Too bad they didn't put in some fake "windows" and "doors" or other architectural details that would show from the outside - that way it wouldn't look so "raquetball-courtish".
No kidding, what an eyesore, they should have buried it.

Yeah, but what fun would that be?
I would think for that kind of money you could at least get it to match the house.
Have you seen the inside? Maybe it is a hydroponic growing operation. You'd think decent CC&Rs would protect the neighborhood from such an egregious eyesore. Underground would have indeed been better, far better and would have provided a decent hidey hole at the same time.

Egon
"egregious", where do you come up with these words?
Ever play Boggle or Scrabble?
Some of us are better educated than the rest. Even with a college degree and being well read, my use of words remains on somewhat of a level that the people one is conversing with can understand, not that my skills are that great.
Learned this lesson the hard way with some of the mechanical help I use to have, just got tired of explaining everything in plain lanquage that they could understand.
More power to the ones that can use such words, wish that I could, better yet if they can spell them.
