    From upstate ny the rule of thumb is 15-20 40 lbs bales

    Both the square and round bale sizes I used in the example were picked out of the air. The sizes I picked were not particularly important so long as they were not so far from reality as to be ludicrous. They were just to illustrate a simple volume comparison which also assumed approximately the same compaction, an assumption that might not be reasonable in some instances.

    We don't do square bales here and I have only made 4x5 round bales on my place. I feel comfortable stacking 4x5 rounds with the Kubota 4610, although I need something heavy on the 3PH (I prefer the 1300 lb box blade as it is shorter and doesn't hurt manuvering so much as the brush hog.
