Does anyone have a Homelite Super XL chainsaw and/or a manual for one? I got a new spark plug for it, but don't know what the gap is supposed to be. I could just set it to what the old one was I guess (30 thousands), but I'm not sure it was right either.

Al, it seems to me in that link that they wasted a lot of ink, and maybe paper, since it would have been simpler to just say the gap for everything is .028. [img]/forums/images/icons/wink.gif[/img]
Now that I've got the gap right, any source of info that tells what the fuel mixure should be? I've been using 32:1 (same as my weed wacker), but that may not be right.
Danny, I've got a SuperXL2 from the '70s. Good running saw but it absolutely will not start without fresh fuel. I've had it into a couple of places thinking it needed this and that and both times it was stale fuel. I suspect the magneto output is low but that particular part costs as much as a decent new saw!

Rob, Do you use Homelite oil or standard 2-cycle oil? If you use standard 2-cycle oil, what fuel mix ratio do you use? I'll mix up some fresh fuel and try it, but I don't know what ratio to use and I can't find Homelite brand oil. Thanks.
I have a seperate can for this saw because it's so much older than all my other stuff. For it I use Homelite oil and mix per the directions on the bottle. Not sure what that gives me but it works. When I use fresh gas it runs fine, no smoking and plenty of power [img]/forums/images/icons/smile.gif[/img]
