WOW !!!

Kids today would laught at that pay.
I've got some of both of my grandfather's pay slips from working in the coal mines in Va and WVa.
I even have some of the coal mine scrips (sp?) they used at the company store!!!

Neither of them had checking accounts, they paid cash for everything, including cars and houses.

Can you imagine doing that today????

Chillimau, Nothing wrong with preserving objects from our past, antique or otherwise. I will be seeing the guy who took me to the clock shop today and will try to remember to get the name and address for you. Even if you get the clock runing it might be good to ask a professional for a recomendation as regards what to lube and what to lube it with. I have no reason to distrust anyother shop but I have been to this one and feel confident it their abilities.

After exchanging a number of e-mails with the curator at the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Museum, I shipped my uncle's watch and all the railroad related documents to him this afternoon.

Thanks again, Pat.

Bird, I am pleased to have been able to be of service to you. I think it is a wonderful thing that you have done to share your "treasures" with so many folks over the coming years.

Hey Chillimau... Did the clock take your licking and start a ticking?

Hickory dickory dock,
Two mice ran up the clock,
The clock struck one,
But it got away with minor injuries.

Pat,

I haven't got around to it. We have had relatives visiting and the kids' birthday parties the last couple weeks. And my little Honda decided it needed attention. Hopefully, Soon I will give it a little kickin and see if it will start tickin.

Re: Clock Builders

Hello to all,

I am new here, and am in the process of building a mission style wall clock for my daughters wedding gift. I would like to use a Hermle movement, but finding a side hammered, spring wound, works is proving to be a big problem. I like their vienna movement but, without the weights. The other thing I have been having problems finding is a good set of plans for a mission style wall clock, most that I have found are rather basic or just ugly. Cost is not a concern, quality is, I have only one daughter. Thanks for any help in advance.
