In years past have made enough for the family, last year we tapped late missing most of the season. What is the deciding factors on when the sap starts to flow? Don't want to miss this year.
Sap will flow when there above freezing days and below freezing nights (or the opposite). Last year I was able to tap in February. I am still waiting to tap this year, but the weather report still looks to cold this weekend. It is also important not to drill the tree while it is frozen. This will harm the tree.
