Animal tracks

I've been running across some very fresh tracks in the morning. One I know is a racoon, the other one has very round pads, still has claws showing (so I don't think it's a cat) and the tracks seem to verlap each other, such as when one foot lifts up, the other one sets down in the same place. Opossum maybe?, but I did catch a faint whiff of skunk this morning... I didn't think skunks had pads this round, though.
Any ideas? They come from the back and walk alongside where I let my dogs out in the morning. Don't want any surprises in the morning, not unless I'm the one doing the surprising

Maybe a fox???? What kind of skunks do U have up there! Different species have different prints! Maybe a sketch or a pic would help I.D. it! A possum has more like little hands that look weird!

Hmmm, maybe, without the bottom pad. I should have snapped a pic. It was hard to say because most of the time the footprints overlapped.
The day I saw the tracks I couldn't identify was a day before I smelled skunk. I know there are skunks in this area, but I'm not sure that is what left the tracks that morning.

Ya know... that's exactly what the folks from the National Enquirer said.
