Chillimau, My Cummins/Dodge was the first non-Ford truck I ever bought. Ford didn't make the truck I wanted. I went to a Ford dealer and tried to order what I wanted and the truck sales specialist was not aware it wasn't available till he actually tried to order one.
My next choice was to buy the Cummins B-5.9 engine and it just happened to come wrapped in a Dodge truck (assembled in Mexico it turned out.) They were quiet about the Mexican connection until I figured it out and asked (after buying it.)
I wish us luck with the longivity and durability of the Dodge portion. So far the only Dodge parts that have failed are: one of the original batteries leaked a lot, the cruise control died (4-5 times), the turbo (waste gate controller died in a few months, a Dodge part not Cummins), and the Dodge tranny input shaft broke in two (I run a little HP and torque over stock.) I also blew out a third party over/under drive but it was replaced with a new improved lemon scented model.
