Re: Best way to get more pull out of my Dodge?

Chillimau, My Cummins/Dodge was the first non-Ford truck I ever bought. Ford didn't make the truck I wanted. I went to a Ford dealer and tried to order what I wanted and the truck sales specialist was not aware it wasn't available till he actually tried to order one.

My next choice was to buy the Cummins B-5.9 engine and it just happened to come wrapped in a Dodge truck (assembled in Mexico it turned out.) They were quiet about the Mexican connection until I figured it out and asked (after buying it.)

I wish us luck with the longivity and durability of the Dodge portion. So far the only Dodge parts that have failed are: one of the original batteries leaked a lot, the cruise control died (4-5 times), the turbo (waste gate controller died in a few months, a Dodge part not Cummins), and the Dodge tranny input shaft broke in two (I run a little HP and torque over stock.) I also blew out a third party over/under drive but it was replaced with a new improved lemon scented model.

She is a cute ChicPlease out of a HighBrow Cat mare. I dont have her papers in front of me but the mare was a good money earner and she is one of those really good loping horses. Very quiet and the mare is a really good mom. She does not seem to be afraid of cattle so we will see what she gets priced at.

She is cute headed with a low head set and low tail set. So far she has a nice hip, short back and seems to be put together pretty well.

I dont need to tell you that its still a real crap shot with one this young. If she is what we want her to be we will get her into Snaffle Bit. Or the more likely deal is we run out of money and sell her in this years Snaffle Bit.

We are starting to get into the cash poor horse rich sort of situation.....

I remember you had a Smart Chic breeding or already had bred to one of you mares. Hows that gettin' along?

All, sorry to derail the thread with talk of REAL horse power

    Mark,

That sounds like a very nice filly. It sure is a money pit though isn't it.

If all goes well the Smart Chic will be at the cutting futurity in December. She's just a super super mare. I was really torn which way to go with her. What made my mind up is that my daughter is going to need a cutting horse for high school rodeo in a few years. I'm definitely going to keep this mare. I would also like to go snaffle bit and probably roping with her. I would love to compete with her as superhorse in aqha and ranch horse competitions. She's definitely an all-arounder. Its too bad we cant get as much money for the green coming out of a horse as we pay to get it in.

The Smart Chic sounds great. It's nice to see kids getting into HS rodeo......personally I think its a good activity and better than a lot of the other things they can spend thier time on . I hope she sticks with it and enjoys it.
