Thanks, I really didn't know what the 4 sq ft was for. I thought it was for keeping warm, so their coop wasn't too roomy, but never read a "standard" height for a chicken coop so wasn't very sure this was it anyway.

I had a close call this week, when my chicken coop caught on fire. A heat lamp clamped to the brooder box fell off into the pine bedding and started a fire. My grandson saved my chickens. See the attached picture file.

Good job by your Grandson! Sounds like one of his generation is going to be okay. Like your coop. I don't have chickens right now, but I keep telling my wife "I came in this world with chickens, and I'm going out with chickens."

My chicks are golden comets and black beauties. They are sex link chickens where the sex can be determined my their color.
