    Red Maple Seedlings

I have a large Red Maple in my yard, this year i noticed a lot of seedlings sprouting up. Would like to remove a few and transplant them. How do I do this? Put in pots or is there a better way?

If they are seedlings and not root suckers you'll probably have pretty good luck potting them. I have several small live oaks in pots that I pulled as first-year seedlings and will set out after they develop a good root system, the second or third year.

Check out the Forrest Keeling Nursery site for ideas about how to get good root growth:

For small seedlings just pull them out when ground is wet and then plant them where you wish them to grow. Earlier the better.
