I bought the 12 hp Dr chipper late last year and I've used it maybe 3 or 4 times since then. It has performed admirably with a couple of caveats.

First, the model I bought does not have a wide hopper for leaf and twig debris. I think that the new models this year do have that. On the plus side, when DR says that the chipper can handle 4" branches, they are not exaggerating. You might not want to put constant pressure when chipping something that thick, but my chipper eats them up very quickly.

The second thing is, as another poster mentioned, the discharge can become clogged, especially when chipping green or moist branches. I've had to remove the deflector a couple of times to clear out blockages.

I saw someone using a very old chipper - looked like about a 10hp troybilt with a debris hopper and a seperate chute for thick branches. That looked like a good deal too as the discharge area was much large and wasn't subject to clogging.
