    Post & Beam Barn Contractors.

I'm facing a new barn build, either this fall or next spring ... I'm getting quotes for 70 bucks US a square foot for a 4 stall horse barn. As it's turning out ... new beams and mortising seem to be cheaper than salvaged framing (due to the labor of re-doing the joinery). These figures include everything except the slab, prep work and the stalls.

Is this high? I was really hopin to find a barnwright for about 60 a foot.

We're talkin New England here ...

    I am building a 24 x 36 horse barn. It will only have 2 stalls, a 12 foot center isle, and a 12 x 24 workshop.

It's built with rough cut hemlock and standard gambrel trusses. It should be finished for about 20k including the slab.
