Field Trimmer

I could really use the DR field trimmer, I like the 11HP, self propelled, swivel type, to cut my overgrown grasses around my house and barn. The price though, > $1,500, just too much.

Does anyone have experience, or knows a less expensive substitute?

Why wouldn't a handheld string trimmer work?

Or a rotary cutter for big areas and a string trimmer for whats left?

When I see the ads for the dr field and brush mower and dr trimmer they just make me thing how happy I am to have the little Kubota I have with the rotary cutter. The idea of horsing one of those around thru the weeds and brush to cut stuff makes me tired just thinking about it.

My Stihl string trimmer has a blade attachment for it. It cuts down the big stuff quite nicely.
