    propane or electric heat

I am building a new home and trying to decide between a propane furnace with a/c or electric heat pump. If I go with propane I will use it my cook stove and hot water tank if not it will be all electric. I will also have an outdoor wood boiler for the coldest three months.

You've posted the same question in two forums. That's not done.

You've got several answers on the other posting under Homesteading.

    Re: propane or electric heat

I have a heat pump (12 SEER) 3 ton which works great in Tenn, but on those COLD night below 20 is kind of hard on it. However you are going to use the boiler on those extreme nights is a good idea.
In this case I personally would stay electric as the heat pump is very efficient and you have an alter heat source.

Natural gas and propane is going to get expensive... They are talking a 71% price increase this winter due to Katrina.
