    stocker/backgrounding feed yard

I sent a email earlier today but I thought I would try this also.
I am very interested in starting a feed yard that deals with steers weighing in the 600# range feeding for 90 days and sale them weighing in the 800# range. I live in Kansas and was wondering would this be a profitable business for me to start up.

There are several books at both The Stockman Grass Farmer and AcresUSA that address your question.

Try Alan Nation's "Pasture Profits with Stocker Cattle" (See http://www.acresusa.com/books/closeu...=11&pcid=2

and Greg Judy's "No Risk Ranching" see http://www.stockmangrassfarmer.com/sgf/bk_norisk.html
