I used to wade the icy Minnesota waters of northern lakes to hunt ducks when I was a teenager, but I am much smarter now, as I don't hunt them.

We have been hunting ducks and geese here but not finding nearly enough. We are hunting them with our eyeballs and cameras, not guns, but this year we only got a few temporary stopovers, not the hoards we have seen before looking to overwinter here.

I don't have a problem with other folks shooting and eating ducks (somewhere else) I just haven't run out of alternative food sources yet. So far in 5 years I shot one animal and ate it. Cotton tail. It was quite tasty and we didn't have to pluck it.

I like to. This season, I was so busy, I did not make it out. Depressing. Not much better than sunrise over the tule's when the birds are flyin.

Usually hunt refuges in the Sacramento refuge system, Pacific flyway.
