We have 22 acres and own most of a six acre pond. We have come to call it Ponds Edge Farm.

EOTR: End of the Road. We're at the end of a county road...

    Okay, so I lack imagination.

Hondo, Hows about Fishhook Ranch, Fishhook Farm, or Fishhook Acres because it is at the end of the line.

We call our place "Vista de Nada " (view of nothing).

Well, that would work except the largest body of water around here is a bird bath...

I think I might use 'Money Pit' except that is a bit generic.

I've found it apropo to name gates, pastures, water troughs, and other points of reference or you'll spend half your life describing where your talking about

A typical Saturday morning conversation with my son...

Open Copperhead Corner and let the horses on Hickory Hill. Close the Fairway and open the Mudhole so the pony can eat down the Snake Pit. Fill the water trough on Buck Knoll while your back there. Spread that manure pile on the east side of Clubhouse Trail over towards the Bayou. By then I'll need your help fixing the fence by the Widowmaker. Hurry up cause I want to dab some bait in Glory Hole before it gets too hot!

... and he'd know exactly what I was saying

I think it is a fun post. We bought nine acres just south of Lake Texoma last year. About an hour from Dallas. Wife has never lived in a rural area. We have no city services, but we're planting trees and getting ready to build. She remembers the show "Green Acres" from our childhood about two city people moving to the coutry. Guess that's what we'll call the place.
