ground moles

I posted this on TBN, but thought this may get some action as well.- any ideas on controlling common ground moles? our school's baseball field has an area that is torn up- one guy suggested lime as the answer. I've never heard of lime for moles?? Thanks in advance

Goaliedad, if you search the past threads on TBN you will find a ton of information. You can poison, trap, or hunt them, but they will be hard to get rid of. They eat grubs and insects in the soil and turf, so poisoning the insects might be the best long-term solution.

Is it coincidence or is it memorex..?

From my research, moles for some strange reason will follow your fence line. With this said....

I sprayed vegitation killer last month along 900' of fence line and since then its been like an interstate for these guys..! I'm serious now... there are so many that the tunnels have tunnels.

Has anyone else experience this too or is this just coincidence ?

They're all over our place. The dogs even dug one up and played with it to death the other day. I'm at a complete loss about what to do about them. I'm not even sure how many individuals, families, colonies, or nations of moles I might be dealing with.

Cultivation will remove their food source and they will move. Traps may also work but it takes time.

There are other ways but I've not used them.

Find a fresh mound, open it up, hook a hose from your exhaust on your vehicle to the hole and let it idle for an hour or so, no more moles, in that tunnel anyway.
