Yep, Egon, some people used to use "kickers"; the metal devices that hooked onto the backs of their legs with a chain around the front that fastened into a notch to hold their hind legs. On a dairy, they soon learned which cows liked to kick so they always knew which cows to use them on and which didn't need them. But when I was a kid and saw one of those things, I wanted to get them and Dad vetoed that idea immediately. He said if you ever started using them, you'd have to use them from now on. So he said instead that you break the cow of kicking so you don't need those things.
