I'm starting my first house and wonder if anyone has used this type of foam block foundation. I'd like to hear the pros and cons to this type and the same with your plain old poured foundations. I've been told by the modular home people it is the way to go but is more money up front. If you plan on a finished basement you can sheetrock right to the foam blocks and you're done. My basement will be finished off for a familyroom/bar with a bedroom.

The ICF post if a good place to take a look. I posted a link to some photos of our ICF house there. We have around 5,000 sq ft and our high monthly electric bill to date was around $400, and that ain't bad for a super hot Texas summer.

My foundation was built with the Arxx blocks. Just glue those guys down to the footing and start stacking them like Legos.
We're quite happy with the results. The below grade walls are nice and warm.
